Having found that the indicator lights are invisible in strong light and that the relay was silent on my newly acquired 93 plus 4, i decided to try one of these....(not knowing what diode was if it bit me on the leg)...its an audible flasher relay.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310297597095?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_2684wt_1066

In its standard form its not loud enough, with one small hole in the casing.
so I carefully prised open the plastic casing and drilled holes all round... became too loud then,
so i wrapped the case in electrical tape... perfect.
Loud enough to hear over the engine noise but not so loud that it frightens horses or sounds like a reversing alarm.

Stops you leaving the indicators on and an easy and cheap solution for the non technical i think.

Try drilling just a couple of holes at a time. rather than over doing it like i did.
My relay is screwed to the Rheostat using the supplied bracket.

Hope you find this useful.

This system works really well on the Mogs and may be customized. It is one of the best mods. I have done.

There are a number of those recently fitted to Mogs over here. A group buy was arranged by an MSCC member. I still have to fit mine yet...
Had one on a bike - worked well there...

jbk,
I had grovel upside down under the dash to see where Mr Morgan had hidden the flasher unit on my 97 +4.

At first I couldn't find it but all that blood to the head gave me an idea & I switched on the hazards.

Tracking down the noise my relay was in that mess of wires behind the central 4 gauges & switches held in place by being wrapped in insulating tape to the loom.

A new relay is now on order from e bay.

John

Hi John, having dabbled about with a buzzer for a bit, (having been given duff advice from a local auto shop), i was amazed how well this works, apart from peering up into the dark spaghetti that is. I would hate to find blown fuse on a dark night.

Hope it works for you, apart from drilling holes and adjusting the sound with tape, the relay position matters too i found. regards John k

They don't make a positive ground version, but the unit can be used by isolating it with a couple of relays. I added a switch and push-button so that I can reprogram easily. I suggested to the manufacturer to make a positive ground version or a kit with relays but they weren't keen on the idea.

I have now installed it using velcro to hold it to the back of the instrument panel.

The hole is as delivered for now but I will road test it later.

On the new models the indicator relay has a reasonably loud chirp. It is audible even at highway speeds.
