High level brake light

Not quite finished but I did a trial fit of the luggage top brake light that I have made.

The mount is a piece of stainless but it is a bit heavy. Aluminium would be lighter. I have a very friendly supplier of laser cut stainless who charges me very little to do these little jobs for me. The two little turn-ups at the ends are to keep it from slipping out from under the straps.

I am undecided about fitting some neoprene or vinyl to the underside to protect the case from scratching. I polish the stainless first in any case.

It is important to angle the LED lamp up as high as possible as the LEDs are brightest when viewed straight on.

Looks very neat..... I would definitely put something under the metal to stop the scratching....

Do you have a waterproof solution for your case?

I've just taken delivery of an antique tan case (eBay) that's the perfect match for my Roadster. I'm having a local saddler (as suggested here) to make up some straps for me. I'm wondering what to do about making it waterproof.

Yes the Morgan case comes with a rain cover. I don't think it would be entirely waterproof but it would certainly be shower proof.

No idea what it is made of but it seems to be a heavy reinforced vinyl of some sort.

I'm not sure Morgan even sell the cases any more..... I'll have to have a hunt for a bag of some sort.

Is it? The iPad is not brilliant for browsing the Morgan site. I couldn't find it.

I will double check - I doubt they sell the covers separately.

There's only one anti scratch solution. That would be NEOPRENE. innocent
But I would also be very tempted to cover it in brown leather to match the case. Offcuts available on e-bay. grin2

Your Unit looks good. thumbs
Just a comment, I have the same lamp unit on mine.

I have used Clear Silicone to seal the long edges and the ends before using. It still swivels to get the correct angle.

However, My unit still vibrated apart as both ends fell off during my Around Britain Trip so at the moment it is still held together with black insulating tape waiting my attention idea

I attached my lamp unit to a strap made from a Laptop Case Shoulder strap with a strip of aluminium set inside. If you are having a saddler make a set of straps why not have them make a matching H strap at the same time to fit your unit to as Simmonds now do?
