Thanks Kin, pity you missed the event. The weather stayed fair all day...

You may not of heard of it anywhere else, but BtG's car had the highest BHP result.

Hi Simon,

Many thanks for your effects in capturing the exhaust sounds.

All we need now is a factory standard to compare them with.

The new NZ Warrant of Fitness (like your MOT) regulations are getting much tighter on noise control, so I may need to be more circumspect than I'd like.

Does anyone know how the standard Aero 8 exhaust compares with a TVR Chimeara 4.0 or 4.5 - more or less vocal ?

Cheers,

Steve

Standard pipes (rear exit) are very quiet.
The sidepipes above are also standard factory fit and are much more noisy, though boshly's recorded 93db (loudest) at the aero centre meet which would still get you on any circuit in the UK and I'd imagine would still be passed for road use just about anywhere.

The loudness comes at the top of the rev range in the sidepipes - so at 6000rpb, it's pretty vocal.
Standard rear pipes are nice sounding, but very quiet in comparison. I'd hazard around 84db based on the comparisons made at the first uk aero centre meet. (there may even be figures on that thread as cerial took measurements of many standard set ups)..

You're very welcome.

They're not the best but at least they give you a flavour; as you can imagine, they sound a lot better in 'the metal'. wine

I do have a portable KORG digital recording studio if anyone wants to go the whole hog - 8 x 8 tracks, complete with on-board effects ('Cathedral' should sound good....!) and outputs to CD.

Doubt we'd make it to the 'Number One' spot though!

...we could hatch a cunning plan... release it in December, call it something inane like 'Morgan Tubular Christmas Bells' and I figure we could make it to #1! The proof of the merit of the plan is the tat that ends up as Christmas number one each year! grin2
