Hi Bob, Yes i have...... On a 93 +4. it is mounted landscape just to the left of the steering column using just the cradle and first connection (keyway slot) part of an air vent mount. I fabricated (bent to shape) an aluminium strip that is screwed to the back of the dash and to the cradle keyway. The top of cradle butts up to the underside of the walnut dash. I had to re-position the Rheostat (why do these exist? ... Anybody?) to use this position.
The cradle keyway means the cradle can be removed when not required. I have an iPhone connector that has both a jack plug and a usb charger,the jack plug enables the sat nav instructions (or music) to play via the radio speakers. I have it set up to play just through the r/h speaker so it can be heard above wind and exhaust noise.
I doubt if you will find a ready mount to fit permanently other than the sucker type. Hope this helps, regards john k
