Well Dave et al, after the problem with my laptop freezing (see other posts on TM) I've chosen to replace it.
Although this is not a Morgan specific thread, it has again revealed the benefit of TM as an excellent source of shared knowledge and information from like minded folks. In particular, I found Alistair's excellent and extensive post informative and useful, thanks.
I've become increasingly frustrated with MS operating systems such as slow startups, time wasted installing frequent virus protection and MS updates, etc. etc. Last year, I bought an Apple iPad and I have really found it to be a breath of fresh air; portable, fast, clear, very user friendly and capable of ~90% of what I use a laptop for day to day (e-mails, web browsing, and of course TM'ing, etc.).
So, I've gone down the Apple route... MacBook Air 13" with 256Mb SSD with Mountain Lion. So, hopefully it will "talk to the iPad", there shouldn't be hard drive, software, or perfomance issues to worry about... but there will be some serious brain training to get used to a new operating system after all these years with MS Windows. Not necessarily a bad thing for an ageing Morganeer
