Alot of cars suffer from 'harmonics' on the brakes ... look at a Range Rover they have large detuners attached to the brake caliper.
if there isnt a problem with a particular model you are just unlucky to get a noise... generally when pads are renewed at a garage they will put a little smear of 'copperslip' grease on the back of the pad ...this stops any noise coming from the pad when the brake caliper piston is just touching it.
Ask the local garage to check the brakes to make sure all is in order ...and no doubt they will put a bit of copperslip on the back of the pads.
