They do now chase other EU citizens - apparently it is now easier.

Beware of driving in Milan for the same reason. The centre of Milan (nominated Area C) is now subject to a toll. This has to be paid by phone or at nominated sellers but you then have to register your plate. I can't even find instructions for how to do this in English!

Many cities now have ZTLs (Zona a Traffico Limitato) that are camera controled and you can only enter with a permit. I won't say how I know the camera is active for the ZTL in Lecco frown
