I also use the local recycling centre for oil & batteries, and other electrical goods. I don't go with everything because of the high council tax charges, so what can go in the various bins does so, even if it takes a week or two.
Our recycling centre is staffed by jobsworths. You know the type....Oi! you can't park there/ you can't put that in there, etc etc etc.
BUT, when I send
they turn on the charm and offer to help empty the car.
So guess what..............
