With reference to the steering wheel, it does need to click on firmly. Until your used too it I'd suggest that you push the wheel onto the column and as you are doing this rotate the wheel. You should hear a click.

If you look at the column you will notice a notched section, this will align with a corresponding ridge within the wheel boss. These need to line and a firmly pushed on to make sure its fixed. Once you're happy try pulling the wheel off.

You'll some get used to it. I only remove mine if I'm putting the tonneau on the car.

Lastly if you've been out in the wet, just lift the seat bases out and dry underneath the seats you'll find the water can puddle here.
