Some of the very finest jokes have a sexist, vegitablist, homophobic, xenophobic, or other slant. The difficulty is, perhaps, knowing the intent of the author.
I don't actually know any racists, but I do know people who sit waiting to be offended - like coiled springs, ready to pull the racist card. I employed a few over the years and it was exhausting being in their company.
