I would first check the fuel pump relay, as already stated.
The two relays that seem to sometimes cause problems on the Zetecs are the fuel pump and the cooling fan; not sure why?
I carry a spare relay with me, (having had the cooling fan fail in the past). The relays are interchangeable.
