I have a coloured disc on the indicator arm which lines up with a hole on the steering wheel when the indicators are off. It's quite good, but I occasionally still fail to cancel and it's dangerous if you're indicating left and pass a junction with a car waiting to pull out.
Audible buzzers are available but I don't like them.
