The optional leather on my steering wheel top started to blister badly in the hot weather in the last two days. Today, the blistered "skin" on top has split and pulled back, leaving patches of bald leather "flesh".
Obviously, the thing to do would be to ask for it to be replaced. But should I bother? Won't it just happen again? Has anyone had this and figured out what caused it? I can't figure out whether it was the direct sunlight, the wear and tear of me holding the wheel at that point, or both. I do know that the other side of the cowl, though worn, is not blistered at all.
If it's the sunlight, I can have the leather replaced, and put a shade up in future. If it's wear from me holding it, well, I don't want to replace it every 6 months, so I would just ask them to remove the busted leather and leave the bald plastic top as is standard with the Aeros.
