Sounds like second gear syncro to me. Although I can't speak for that box, clutch problems when selecting gears usually show up initially when selecting reverse and sometimes first.
Has the gearbox oil been recently changed? If not, it does lead a hard life and although it may not help, it's cheap and easy to do.
