The best I have come up with is that I have caller id, and have an answer phone.
If the number is international or withheld number, I do not answer and let it go through to the answer phone.
The problem is that some of the PPI chasers are using 0800 numbers.
I have the same, but some now use "ghost" UK phone numbers. I have two strategies, depending on my willingness to play. The first is to put the phone next to the radio. The other is to tell the person that the person they ant to speak to has just been killed in a car accident and I'm his brother....
But as they never call mobiles I'm tempted to kill the land line, once we get 3G I'll probably do so.
