Went to the Amelia Island Concours this last weekend. The weather was perfect, and on Sunday, the day of the Concours, there were 325 beautiful cars there. I got a case of spectacular car overload. The most incredible car there,IMO, was a type 57SC Bugatti, one of four made, but this one was made of magnesium, the only one ever made--valued at 38 million dollars but probably priceless.
No Morgans in the Sunday Concours (far too mundane, I suppose,) but on the Saturday before, there was a show of cars from local car clubs held at the same venue--the golf club's 17th and 18th fairways at the Ritz. Three Morgans were there, including the beautiful red +8 owned by Mark Braunstein, Editor and Webmaster of our MogSouth club.
Below is a photo of Mark's car. Notice the wood bonnet prop rod protruding from the rear of the bonnet? While I was talking to Mark just before this photo was made, a boy played with the prop rod and the bonnet came crashing down with a loud Blam! Mark calmly looked over and said, "That's all right, son, you can't damage this car" and continued chatting with me.
You're the man, Mark!
