I have always used Castrol LMS, used it for years on almost everything chassis related on cars. This is lifted from BP's website....Not that easy to find these days but worth a Google or eBay search. I 'think' LMX is todays replacement but that needs checking out. I buy/bought LMS 10 tubs a time so have not bought any for ages....note to self down to 2 tubs!
Description
An NLGI 2 consistency lithium soap based, extreme
pressure [EP] grease incorporating 3% molybdenum
disulphide (MoS2) and a highly effective combination
of load carrying, oxidation inhibiting and anti-rust
additives.
This product is water resistant and oxidation
inhibitors and anti-corrosion additives ensure a long
service life and a high level of corrosion protection. The inclusion of molybdenum disulphide makes this
grease particularly suitable for applications where
fretting, corrosion and wear are a problem.
It is often used to lubricate automotive ball-joints to
reduce noise, wear and make steering easier, as
well as CV-Joints to reduce wear and noise.
Applications
Energrease LMS-EP 23 is suitable for most of the
grease lubrication tasks of industrial, mining and
automotive sectors. It is especially suitable for
applications where high loads or sliding contact
surfaces are involved. It was developed primarily as
a rationalisation grade to reduce the grease
inventory of large construction or mining companies.Common applications include, grease lubricated
chassis points on cars, trucks, buses, earthmoving
agricultural and mining equipment.
It is also used on semi-trailer fifth wheels [turntables]
and other similar slow sliding-contact moving
surfaces
