Hoping that pure opinion with no recriminations allowed, my take having owned 4/4, +8 and roadster 3L, and driven my brother's +4, that if you want the merry blast around lanes absolutely nothing beats a good 4/4 (which one is a good 4/4 is another whole topic), it is total grinfactor all the time every journey.
If you want effortless touring, staggering overtaking power (almost motorbike like passing long sets of cars) then the roadster is king. An amazing car, but a little staid in the real world of current traffic because you tend to stay in one gear all the time, there's so much power available. Noise is not brilliant.
Here's my controversial bit. For me the plus 4 falls between two stools. Not as much power as roadster, not as much fun as the balanced 4/4.
Just my opinion though, I know many won't agree with me.
Basically I love them all and would be happy in any of them.
