Hi Matthew,
1.Go for woodrim with shorter bottom spoke to ease entry and exit
2.Get yourself a good pair of quality leather driving gloves.
These litterally 'stick' to the wheel allowing a free-er grip even in tight turns (grippier than leather rimmed wheel and no gloves), therefore less tiring.
3. Now you really look the part!!!
