So the problem was a fuse that had blown.
Removed from the car and checked with a meter it showed conductivity.
In the fuse box with power applied it didn't.
I had spare fuses, but because it appeared good, both visually and with a meter, I didn't swap it out.
I am somewhat irritated with myself.
But relieved it wasn't anything more expensive!
