Having just finished reading "Morgan 100 Years" by Charles Morgan and Gregory Houston Bowden, I thought it deserved to be brought to the attention of the forum. The book, which has just been published for the Centenary is not included in the Centenary Collection on the MMC website but can be found under Books and Videos.
I particularly liked a modification which occurred in 1918.
"With the fuel shortages virtually stopping all motoring, a most welcome technical devlopment in 1918 was the gas powered Morgan. This was the brainchild of two men......They constructed a frame above their Morgan which supported a large gas bag 7 ft 10 in long, 4 ft wide and 3 ft high. This bag held enough gas for about 30 miles driving and took 10 minutes to fill at a cost of 1 shilling (5p). A half inch flexible gas pipe connected the bag to the AMAC carburettor which had required no modification to take this alternative fuel"
The book provides a concise, easily read, history of the cars and their place in motorsport. I found it a thoroughly good read and would recommend it to anyone who likes Morgans.
