My former Roadster had an interesting behave. She was much smoother and got more torque when filling with brand quality 98 octane fuel (Esso) instead of 95 octane. So I guess she could "read" the difference.
But when filling superior 102 octane (Aral) she delivered less power and less spontanious reaction on the throttle.
The new 4/4 reacts in my opinion in a positve way when filling with 98 octane, the engine runs smoother and deliveres slightly more torque. Worth a try.
You will damage nothing at all when doing so. The only downside is, when an engine cannot read the change of octane and consequently cannot alter the ignition timing, the only "damage" is a loss of money.
Thanks for that Heinz. I'm on vapours in the tank at the moment so next trip out I'll try the Optimax & see what happens.
