It certainly can be rebuilt and if you are of a mechanical mind and don't count your labour, you can not only cover your costs but actually make some value too.
I'm rebuilding a 65 4/4, parts for which I've been collecting for about 10 years, if I get it professionally painted will still cost less than £5k.
