This may be a longshot Neil but I had very slow filling on my 44. I noticed that inside the filler, once the cap is removed, is a perforated alluminium ring. I think this is connected to a small flap that closes behing the hole. I noticed mine was at a 9 oclock position. I simply rotated the ring using a small spike, it moves easily, till the flap was hinged at the top, 12 oclock. My filling problem was instantly solved. It sounds weird but have a look, if the filler on a plus 8 is the same, you will easily see what I mean.

No Aero but a 4/4. Your tip is priceless, Nick. Thanks a lot! So easy to fix even with the fingers, and resulting in a really transformed filling experience. My flap was at 5 ó clock.
