It was the way Lord March said "replica" that got me! It said a lot about him.
I totally agree John. I thought the new car looked wonderful. I am very envious of those who get to own one (and not because of their wealth) and I hope and expect they will appreciate it. I wouldn't expect my 2014 Morgan to be admitted to historic races so similarly had not thought about a 2015 Jaguar getting entries. But I did feel Lord March came over as sneering in his interview, especially for calling the cars replicas.
I wonder if he considers the racing at Goodwood to be a replica of real racing from a bygone age?
I completely agree, what gets me is that I suspect that quite a lot of the historic racers around are probably far from original having been rebuilt several times. As for the 6 E-Types being built by Jaguar being replicas, I think not, they were built by the original manufacturer to the original design specification and were registered by them. Lord March's comment is just historic car snobbery and elitism IMO.
