Now I quite believe your post - The New Zealanders have many very keen fliers down there. We took a treck in a campervan a few years back and came across a little town with airstrip down towards the sea. Either side were parked light planes beside dwellings that lay back on either side. An evening aerobatic display was part of the fun.
