I think it is all down to the Type Approval: the new Plus 8 is, as far as the Compliance stuff is concerned, just another body version of the Aero 8, as will be the new Aero 8 S5 and in due course the Aero based Roadster....
Bottom line, technically if it has an aluminium tub chassis it is an Aero 8, irrespective of what it looks like, the way it is marketed or sold to customers.
