Peter unless you were driving an XU1 Torana you probably were trying! I've now forgotten what the S model had in it. I was an EH man (lad) myself. Yella terra head, triple 13/4 inch SUs. How did we survive?
I lived at Woy Woy and my office was at Mount Kuring-gai. 60 km of lovely twisty roads every morning (pre Newcastle Expressway), little traffic and no police radar

I remember the Torana S as a well balanced car. The one I had was the LC two door coupe version with a floor shift and the 6 cylinder 173 cu in (2,835 cc) engine. It was essentially the untuned version that was the basis of the GTR and the XU1 (which had a 3 litre engine).
It must be very difficult to find one the same today. I have searched on the Internet for a photo and any surviving examples seem to have been turned into XU1 replicas.
