Following a brief exchange on Mogtalk about the gearbox oil, I went back into the garage for a look under the tunnel cover. There, just aft of the clutch pedal is a rubber grommet. I prised it out, and hey presto, the reason that it's invisible underneath is that the hole hasn't been cut in the insulation. I've deployed Mr Stanleyknife, so now there's a hole. The thing is, there are four dealer stamps in the book, and technically the level should be checked at every service.
There are no spanner marks on the level plug and I doubt it would come out as it was.....Although I'm not worried when there are no signs of leaking.
It does make you wonder..............
The propshaft grease nipples showed no sign of having been greased either.
The axle oil 80W/140 SemiSynth is good for 20k miles apparently, and as I suspected, the bottom hex nut is the drain.
I'll post a picture tomorrow.
I might even have the wheels off...........
