I concur re the Ctech unit. Mine is used with the direct to battery leads rather than cigar lighter socket as I find it more reliable.
But......why not take the car out?
I tend to use mine regularly even in winter unless really bad weather or over-salted roads. The grime coats everything.
I agree to MSCC route as well..a good way to meet up and your degree of involvement is up to you.
