Sorry to disappoint!
This is a project that I have had in mind for some time and finally got around to completing the first stage.
I have always liked the idea of creating a valance under the front end and have viewed with interest the various options and must admit particularly like the latest from Wolf Performance. I had suggested the idea of some simple 'wings' on the outboard but didnt seem to spark any interest so decided to have a go myself. Not sure if these will suit other trads as the Le Mans 62 were built with over-rider brackets and aluminium number plate box valance that flows underneath the radiator rather than the later separate plastic number plate mount.
Anyway here is my solution and straight forward to make and fit (if you can work with simple sheet metal tools - snips and files)
The tricky part was creating the templates and then cutting them from 1mm aluminium. I elected to prime and spray 'Aluminium' but yet to decide whether to colour match or even go with the ivory contrast (to match the hard top like the MGB Racers).
They are fixed using the indicator mounting bolts and attached to the over-rider brackets where the existing number plate valance fits. A piece of neoprene (to 'satisfy' DW) adds a final touch were it abuts the over-rider bracket.
I am particularly pleased the way it fits the profile of the over-riders which were lowered to allow the spotlight brackets previously fitted.
Link to Thread - Spot Light brackets for cars with over-riders They also stiffen the over-rider from any vibration withthe spot lights fitted as well.
I am still considering the 'full monty' of removing the number plate valance and making another section between the over-rider brackets (incorporating a grill) and positioning sticky number plate on the wing. Still retaining my over-riders and spotlights.
Watch this space.
