Way back in the 1980's I was involved in clearing out a former British Leyland dealership which had gone bust. The stores were rammed full of ancient parts. Huge numbers of strip speedos, headlamp units, keys on boards (FS etc), circular heater matrices, brake parts - all brand new old stock. There was a large box of SU carbs, and within that box were several sideways fitting downdraught carbs. This was the first time I had seen them and up to today I've never seen one fitted to a car, but they must have been 'a way of doing it' pre-war.

To cut a very long story short, we took this stuff in a Transit van to the autojumble on York Racecourse on behalf of the owner.
Before the doors opened to the public we had made over £500.....
