What are the service intervals? The Aero is an S3 #476 (Aug '07/ 1600miles).
Is there any model specific foibles I should look out for?

I trickle charge mine - if left for more than 2-weeks starting it gets iffy. Much of this depends on whether you have an active tracker, passive tracker and how the radio is set up. Obviously these are all drains on the charge and therefore the longer you leave it the lower the battery charge will be.
Reference the service intervals, as Asbo pointed out, the manual states fairly regular servicing. Many have argued that the BMW engine is capable of going much longer without attention; however, the actual reason for the service is to also ensure that the overall structure of the car is still tight and as it should be. A lot of power, in a light car, that is predominantly aluminium, can wreak havoc and therefore all the screws, nuts and bolts are checked to ensure they are tight and nothing is coming loose. A hand built car requires more attention than a mass produced model.
As for "foibles", no. Fist owners usually resolve these, which is a benefit to the second caretaker!
If the previous owner hasn't driven the car in the rain, you may find the hood needs to be adjusted to ensure total weather proofing but I cannot think of anything else that would be a standard "look at this" item.
