I am really feeling dumb. I am doing some touching up of the engine compartment and decided to replace the valve cover gasket and adjust the valves on my '70 4/4 Kent 1600 crossflow head. I cannot find the locking nut on the rocker arm adjusting screw. There is just a hollow threaded screw that goes onto the pushrod. What am I missing? I've adjusted valves on a lot of cars and there has always been some nut to secure the threaded adjuster in place. Is this threaded screw an interference type that requires a lot of force to move and then stays put. Seems unlikely but something must hold the screw in place. Any help would be appreciated.
Yes, they are 'self locking' .. They stay put by magic. Just make sure you have a good fitting spanner and watch knuckles!
