Tennis ball on a string, mark in wall or ground to line up with front wheel, wooden batten on ground to run wheel up to. I've used all of the above. To set mirrors get on a straight quiet road & set mirrors so you see a reference point in inner edge of both at a distanace to suit you.

The last idea gave me the thought of parking my normal car behind me and adjusting down the sides of it. I'll give that a try.
