About time for an update!
We arrived in Portishead on Tuesday evening after 2 days and 4 hours to cover the 300+ miles from Dingle. All day Wednesday cleaning up the boat, taking unused food to the foodbank, and showing people who had been tracking us round the boat. Then Thursday back to Bristol to moor up by the SS GB.
Northabout did over 11,000 miles in 4 months and a day - more than most Morgans manage - including the NE and NW passages.
I did the last leg from Greenland to the UK, a bit over 2,000 miles in 4 weeks, including ten days cruising down the beautiful Greenland west coast, nine and a half days to Ireland, then another seven days to get home.
What an adventure! Big swells and winds in the North Atlantic as we endured three storms, but glorious weather in Greenland and Ireland.
Whales, seals, reindeer, northern lights, beautiful scenery, icebergs, glaciers, snowcapped peaks and fjords. Oh, and the welcome, Guinness and singing in Ireland, where Northabout was built.
I would love to go back. There is talk of another expedition next year, but we'll see.
