My old +4 (1963) and the Morgan I take long trips with (LeMans in 2012) has a Moss Box. I also installed a Laycock OD. I rarely use the OD. Only on Motorways. But I love the Moss Transmission. 3rd gear is 1.20 ratio. As My hearing is bad I often forget to shift out of 3rd. It is great for passing or when I need a bit more power. Now we are talking about 100 HP not 200+ from a +8. I don't need Synchromesh in 1st gear. Maybe a racer does I don't know. A +8 has so much torque in 4th gear that 3rd may become unnecessary. But for accelerating out of curves I bet I could put it to good use in My +8.
