After 2 years of driving my Dads Austin A40 in and out of the garage (clutch control par excellance!)I took my test in 1963 and passed 1st time.Having just signed paperwork as a marine engineer apprentice, with my new found wealth, I bought a Morris Minor. I drove it home and the second time out it stuck in 2nd gear. Took it back to "Shady Motors" for a refund. Next up was a Morgan +4 4str. I don't remember the year but it did a 360 on wet leaves on the test drive. Had it not been for that episode I would probably be in an early grave!! I was 17 years old, and insurance was my years salary!!
