I've mackled-up my own bonnet stays, using lengths of 4mm s/steel rod (well, the bonnet is very light after all).
The pictures hopefully show the fixing arrangements I've adopted, with the top end of the stay turned through 90 degrees so that it lodges quite securely behind the catch spring.
I drilled (I know - but it's only the bracket!!) & grommeted the rear bonnet bracket to mount the stay,
and I've used self-adhesive plastic decorating clips mounted on the forward bonnet brackets to hold the stays in place, which have proved very reliable over the 5 months they've been in place.
Total cost for the whole job was about £12.00. A Bargain!
