I can confirm that prongs protect.
I watched with amazement this afternoon as a DB7 (which I've never liked) reversed and reversed and reversed into and slightly up on my Morgan. Fortunately he hit the prongs which didn't bend and were unmarked. I was lucky he hit them and not the car itself.
That was fortunate. Are DB7's not equipped with lookbackascopes and parking sensors?
