I wouldn't beat yourself up about it ShaunD. My father was Army for 30 years, my wife is currently active duty, and many of my friends are. I've never seen any of them have a solemn day of reflection on memorial day. They've all done what my wife, her military friends and I did this weekend, grilled some meats, drank some beers and had a good time.
