I didn't consider it when I bought the car, but by comparison with a friend's morgan, the gearchange is a bit land rover. So I took it back to Allon White who were going to replace the bush, but they told me that it's a ford gearbox, and anyway, there are lots of different linkages, they're all like that, etc. etc.
In the meantime I find that 5th gear isn't really needed round our way, and I'm headed onto the M40 tomorrow morning and I'll be able to get my co-driver to hold the wheel while I try to find it. it's about 6 inches across to the right, I think You might find a Quickshift conversion helps. It made a huge difference to the Ford Type 9 box on my car.
