To be fair to kriss, he didn't say whether or not he was concerned by the running costs or whether or not it was an important part of ownership. He may have just done it out of curiosity whilst on a long railway journey somewhere. I've always had a thing about mpg - on the basis that the better the mpg for any given power output or overall performance, the more efficient the engine/vehicle. My mpg-ometer is currently showing 42.6 mpg after a nice day out with the wife. It goes down a bit when I'm on my own for some reason!
