During my trip to RFTH last week I noticed a new noise coming from the backend of my M3W. It sounded like something rubbing and it happened each time the rear wheel went round. This resulted in the car sounding slightly like a steamtrain as I was going along, emiting a like of sh..sh..sh..sh..sh noise.

The noise has lessened over the last couple of days but this evening I took the boot liner out and found that a chunk of the edge of rear sprocket has sheared off. My guess is that this has somehow been the source of the noise, possibly somehow rubbing against the belt.

Should I be particularly concerned by this?
