The Lucas SAGEM (GEMS) fuelling and ignition control system on the 4.0 cars has always been something of a mixed blessing.
When correctly sorted (and that means chipped on both fuel and ignition) and all the associated niggles ironed out, they do produce prodigious quantities of torque , better fuel consumption, as a result of more accurate control of the mapping .
However they are devilishly difficult to sort, and many here (and on other fora) have spent long periods of time and resources chasing this elusive goal
In many ways the 14CUX system that preceded it is better suited to the Morgan , it is less efficient, that is true, but so much simpler to understand and work on. If you do decide to look for another +8 I suggest you go pre-2002 and get "Hotwire"
