We were selling massive 40Mb drives for a mere £1200. If you were really brave you could link them with a primitive 2Mb network for only £300 per machine. Oh life was so simple.
When we installed our first LAN, it was Amstrad PC1512s, 4MB Token Ring cabling, Novell Netware, and an IBM AT server. It was so wildly successful, I had to upgrade the disc storage on the server after just a couple of months. We wanted an upgrade that would last a good while, so we went for plenty of capacity and I put in a 60MB disc.
