Just before I was 70 I applied for my new drivers licence with all categories still on it. I paid the doctor £90 for a DVLA form and then had to fill out two further forms and was asked to go for a treadmill test at the local hospital. I gave up and just asked for a renewal with fewer categories.
I have recently found this out from a cousin that hit 70 this year. So strange that if you only renew 1 category it is a straight forward renewal but if you want 2 or more it is medical etc. I get there next year.
That's not quite right, if you just want to keep your car/bike licence it's a health declaration. If you want to retain your "Grandfather " rights B1, C1, D1 (over 3,500 kg) or your minibus categories you need a Lorry/Coach medical. So if you tow a large caravan or have a motorhome MAM over 3,500 kg you need the medical every 3 years.
