GnG 2018 is being organised by the MTWC but all Morgans 3 wheelers old and new are invited. I've been asked by Ian & Maria Parkinson to post the details:

Goggles and Gauntlets in North Norfolk 7th to 10th June 2018

The four star Le Strange Arms Hotel in Old Hunstanton, with The Ancient Mariner pub next door having real ales galore, is the ideal base for the fifth Goggles and Gauntlets weekend. A weekend for meeting old friends and making new ones too. As organisers we strive to continue to attract a 50/50 split of vintage Morgans and the new five speeders to participate in what the weekend is all about, driving your Morgan and a relaxing social evening to round off each day. The hotel is well known to us and will be the perfect base for exploring the lanes of Norfolk.

So, what do we have planned, to take it all in you will need to arrive Thursday 7th and depart Monday 10th, we appreciate other commitments may dictate shorter stays for some.

In no particular order we shall visit Krazy Horse Morgan, not just a Morgan dealer, with a 60’s style diner and premises spread over a big site owner Paul and Dan and Stuart are looking forward to giving us a special welcome. An alternative visit to Bressingham Gardens and Steam Museum will be on offer on the day. A visit to ex USA Air Base, Old Buckenham Airfield see www.oldbuck.com is planned with a break in Jimmy’s Café / Bar ( named after the airfields WW2 Operations Officer James Stewart) we shall visit the two museum buildings there too it is a really interesting place. A special visit to the Thursford Collection, www.thursford.com the finest collection of steam engines and vintage fairground rides ever. Adults and children alike will be enthralled by all that they see here. The Norfolk Motorcycle Museum, a trip into Cromer and other interesting places await either as tea stops or for longer visits. No visit to Norfolk would be complete without a trip to The Broads and inside help has been offered by local member Richard Wood to plan this goes well. We are also planning that there will be time for some fun on the beach and time to wander into modern Hunstanton if you wish. The Saturday night Gala dinner will have the usual raffle and award giving to liven everyone up. So, how do you book in?

Interest has been really good for this event, we have taken options on all the hotel rooms. All rooms are doubles, we have negotiated a special rate for a few single occupancies though. Booking cannot be made directly online, all initial bookings must be made by contacting Maria either on 01823 277852 or membership@mtwc.co.uk Please direct all questions or queries to her and not the hotel.

Please note all prices quoted are Dinner, B&B with full breakfast options. Breakfasts are cooked to order not kept hot. Prices below also include a superb choice of three course evening meal each night in the hotel restaurant.

Five single rooms at £77.50 per person per night. ( Includes all meals)

After these are gone, single at £92.50 per person per night ( includes all meals)

Double Rooms are £155.00 per night for two persons ( includes all meals)

Of course we appreciate the campers amongst us. If you wish to be close to our hotel Searles Leisure Resort www.searles.co.uk is a short walk away, is in Hunstanton town and offers tent spaces, motorhome spaces and have pods for hire. Or Deepdale Campsite , www.deepdalebackpackers.co.uk have tent and motorhome spaces but are about six miles away. They do have a pub, The White Horse across the road which is a good point. Having spoken to both we recommend you do not leave it too late as they are already 50% booked for our dates. This area of Norfolk is very popular so we strongly recommend you book sooner rather than leave it and be disappointed.

We look forward to your company at this fifth Goggles and Gauntlets, all you need is a working Morgan Three Wheeler and a sense of humour. The full itinerary will be published once formalised.

Ian and Maria.
