The definitive version of "classic" is to be found in the OED, unfortunately this doesn't really fit with what most people call a classic car.
It must be for our purposes initially what our insurance company thinks, then for use on the road, what the DVLA thinks, then for shows, what the organisers think and lastly what the general public think.
At the end of the day, who cares as long as we all enjoy ourselves.
