Why don’t you get someone else (manservant) to do it?
When I had stainless wires I used a microfibre to clean them and occasional Meguiars polish and a wheel wax. Wheels off 2-3 times a year for full clean between routine washes.
At first I thought your cloth was to drape over the tranny tunnel side for a nicer feel against the left leg when driving in shorts!
